About This Project

In 2015,  Yang-Ward Foundation implemented four “Goat Projects” funded by our very own supporters Paul KavanaughDebbie Smith Kavanaugh and Westminster Poverty Initiative,in Dolakha to help single women. One of our project beneficiary was Mrs. Tilu Maya Jirel.

She is a single mother raising her 3 kids. Being a single mother and poor, she was struggling to meet her daily needs. At one point she didn’t even have 50 cents to pay for her son’s school fees in the local school. This is just one of the many struggles she faced after her husband passed away.

With the help of the Yang-Ward Foundation, she started generating income with the sale of goats. This Dashain she is making Rs,24000 which is equivalent to $240 US Dollars which is a lot of money for people living in the rural areas of Nepal.  When we visited her on July 2016, we could see the impacts our goat farming was making on her life; financially and socially. During our visit, she was so excited to report to us the progress she has made so far. She showed us three baby goats that she was going to sell during a festive season making Rs.24000. “This year, I don’t  have to worry about meeting my  kid’s demands of new clothes and good food during this festive season” excited Tilu Maya shares her achievement. Way to go Tilu Maya Jirel. We are so proud of your achievement !
